Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018:
I have only done Faceware through the GoPro mount that there is at Ohio State's ACCAD, so today Troy and I played around with some of the facial capture devices that they have at House of Moves.
Here they have:
1. Faceware's pro HMC setup
2. Faceware's Cara setup
3. Optical marker tracking for face
4. Dynamixyz (being used with a Faceware HMC)
Today, we only looked at Faceware's pro HMC setup and optical marker tracking for face.
Faceware Pro HMC:
- This camera setup comes with multiple lenses, adjustable tool-set, light, the helmet, and the belt with the battery, light power, and transmitter. For this we set it up on Troy and then streamed to the screen so that we could see the placement of his face. He had me adjust it correctly so that he could make extreme poses, and all of his face (chin, cheeks, eyebrows, etc.) were still in frame even when he expanded them. We then did some ROM and tests to play with at a later time.
- With optical tracking, all that is needed is the system and tiny markers for the face rather than an entire HMC. In one of the pictures below, we used a guide for the placement of the markers, but didn't use all of them as this was just testing.
